  • February 25, 2019

Mercedes-Benz has just revealed at CES 2019 the second generation of CLA, a sports-style sedan that is offered in the compact segment with a more sporty design than its predecessor. Although it maintains the original essence, comes loaded with news. It will go on sale in May of that year. The new Mercedes-Benz CLA shares the MFA 2 modular front-wheel drive platform with the new generation of star-brand compacts. As can be seen in the pictures, Mercedes-Benz decided to keep the essence that drove the car to sales success, with a design that retains the style of the previous model but has grown in its dimensions. Now the new CLA measures 4,688 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, 1,439 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,729 mm. The trunk has a capacity of 460 liters. The influence of the new CLS, with a roof drop and the shape of the rear abutment, is undeniable. The front is practically retained in the style of the headlights, but has a sharper appearance at the top, including the characteristic shape of the LED daytime running light, while the front bumper has larger air intakes. In the rear, the inheritance of the big brother becomes more evident, especially in the design of the horizontal lanterns, becoming part also of the cover of the trunk. The ‘Edition 1’ version features especially sporty details such as multi-wheel drive and a thin orange line at the edges of the front spoiler, rear diffuser, exhaust ports and wheel rim. This color is also present in the interior that preserves the same design of the A Class and A Class Sedan, with the double screen that occupies much of the panel. The new Mercedes-Benz CLA debuts equipment, highlighting the new gesture control system in the interior, MBUX technology to activate some functions, such as courtesy light and the new personalized functions of the ENERGIZING comfort control, which can now be individually tailored and customized in the front seats, as well as the new MultiBeam LED headlamps with individual diode control. In mechanical terms, at the beginning the new CLA comes with the CLA 250 gasoline version, an already known 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops a maximum power of 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque, which comes coupled with an automatic transmission of double clutch and seven speeds, in addition to the total 4MATIC traction. The average consumption announced is 16 km / l and CO2 emissions stand at 142 g / km. These numbers depend on factory confirmation. The new CLA will also be offered with other petrol and diesel engines, as well as manual and automatic transmissions.

2019 – MERCEDES-AMG C 63 S BY G-POWER

While the factory performance is fantastic, many customers still find the performance of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S low, so they seek out new ideas and solutions from the industry’s most respected preparers. One of them is G-Power, a German specialist who usually features the wildest designs. It was not unlike the others at the time and what the preparer offers is one of the wildest C Classes that have emerged in recent times, because thanks to important mechanical improvements, the German model is able to increase the power of your engine to exorbitant limits. Nevertheless, we can also identify it by the striking exterior decoration of camouflage, a larger airfoil and forged wheels of 20 inches, among other things. However, the most interesting of this project is hidden beneath the hood, since the 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine equipped with the German series sedan has received a number of relevant modifications that increase its horsepower up to no less than 800 hp and maximum torque up to all of which allow the AMG to accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km / h. This means 0.6 seconds faster than the standard C 63 S and much faster, since the standard model reaches 290 km / h if the limiter is removed. To achieve all that energy, G-Power has resorted to a modified ECU with new software called Performance V4, plus turbo improvements, a larger intake, extended-flow fuel pump, as well as some forged engine components. The final result is an increase of 290 hp and 300 Nm from the factory specifications, a performance that will have to be digested by the seven-speed automatic transmission, which was also enhanced for the occasion. If money is not the problem, maybe this is an interesting solution for the Mercedes-AMG owner.

2019 – MERCEDES-AMG C 63 S SEDAN

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S was introduced in the Coupe, Sedan, Cabrio and Estate versions, with changes that are reflected in some aesthetic improvements, both in the exterior and interior, while buyers will also find more equipment and a new transmission as part of the upgrade. Starting with its design, the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 2019 are part of the Pan-American grid that debuted in January of last year with the restyling of the Mercedes-AMG GT. New air intakes were also integrated into the bumper, aerodynamically optimized wheel arches, a new rear bumper with a redesigned diffuser and new exhaust outlets, as well as a full range of 18-optimally aerodynamically-optimized alloy wheels and 19 inches. In addition, the interior also receives some changes. Performance benches now feature a higher grip, fully redesigned steering wheel with tactile controls, a full 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system with a touchscreen available in two sizes: 7.0 and 10.25 inches. New frames and Nappa leather upholstery are also offered. As for the mechanical part, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 2019 line does not introduce changes. The well-known 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is available with two power levels. The standard version offers 476 hp and 650 Nm of torque, while the C 63 S will continue to offer 510 hp and 700 Nm of torque. However, Mercedes-Benz engineers have integrated a relevant transmission into their configuration. The engine is now coupled to a new AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G automatic transmission which is able to reduce acceleration times so that the lighter version of the line accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 290 km / h. Another of the integrated improvements is the AMG Dynamics system, which now offers up to six different driving modes: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport +, RACE and Individual.

2019 – MERCEDES-AMG G 63 700 WIDESTAR BY BRABUS

The traditional German coach focused his efforts on increasing both the character and personality of the utility and the performance of his 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine. Over the last few months we have seen all kinds of preparations made by Brabus specialist on the ‘G’ models of Mercedes-Benz. First it was the AMG G 65 from the previous generation, later the revamped G 500, and now comes the turn of the wildest version of all, that is, the new generation Mercedes-AMG G 63. The German model, with its imposing appearance, reinforces both its character and its attractiveness, with a series of aesthetic improvements that use the carbon fiber as its main ally, extending to the front, a muscular hood with several air intakes and wheel arches extended by 100 millimeters, among other things. Its 23-inch wheels do not go unnoticed, as well as the set of mechanical modifications prepared by the German coach, with the sole aim of significantly increasing the performance of the 4×4 Stuttgart. Along with a perfectly adjusted suspension, new intake manifolds and a new air filter come in, along with a custom exhaust system. But the most important of all is a V8 engine that has reduced its engine capacity from 5.5 to 4.0 liters, to be smaller and more efficient, but without forgetting the performance, which adds the personal touch of Brabus. Thus, the model called G 63 700 Widestar, anticipates in its description the level of power that the German preparer decided to put in that AMG. In fact, there are 700 hp that hide under the hood, instead of the 585 that was delivered from the factory. But this increase not only affected the power as well as the huge torque, which now finds its maximum at 950 Nm. Next to this engine is the same AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic transmission, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.4 seconds.

2019 – MERCEDES-AMG GT 63 S 4-DOOR AERO PACK

It is now possible to purchase the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas in some markets. The Mercedes-AMG family of models welcomed a more rational and practical alternative to the Mercedes-AMG GT itself. However, we are more in front of a sports car than a four-door coupe. And this model does not deny its origins. The line of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Doors is composed of a small selection of versions. However, little by little the offer increases with new options in order to create a long list of versions available to adapt the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas to different types of customers. One of the new options that will soon be added is the so-called Aero package. This package, which will thicken the list of options, is a complete aerodynamic kit to make the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas an even more fearsome car. You can configure it for any version. In the images below we see how the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door is with the aerodynamic package. Regarding the components included in the Aero package for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas, if we pay attention to the images we will see that the new sports car from Affalterbach shows a new rear diffuser, a larger front splitter, new front baffles located in the air intakes, a Fixed rear aerofoil with glossy black trim and new guides for the side air intakes of the rear mudguards.

Mercedes-AMG ensures that the aerodynamic package helps the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas to remarkably reduce air resistance and can be combined with other optional packages such as the Exterior Carbon Pack II and the Night Pack. The new aerodynamic package for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas has a starting price in Germany of 3,391 euros and as noted before, can be associated with any of the existing versions on the line. It can even be assembled in the special Edition 1 edition which, remembering, will only be available during the first year of commercialization of the new German sport.
